A near death experience

Some years ago I had a silver and black Triton (a Triumph Thunderbird engine shoe-horned into a Norton Featherbed frame) which I’d restored myself. It was incredibly fast for its age and surprised many tear-aways on Japanese crotch rockets when I overtook them. It had straight through megaphone exhausts which dismayed my mother when after firing it up one day it blew the heads off her daffodils. The sound, as you can imagine drew much attention from pedestrians as I thundered along through city streets. When sat at traffic lights at tick-over the whole bike shuddered and vibrated as the engine thumped happily. An aggressive dumping of the clutch ensured a streak of black rubber on the tarmac as I accelerated away. I had a near death experience one day though whilst racing along a country lane when having rounded a corner a combine harvester had blocked the entire road. Hitting the brakes at over a 100 mph, both wheels locked up and the bike slid dangerously towards the unyielding mass. Luckily the thing turned off onto the field giving me enough space to screech past. I’m pretty luckily to be alive. Did it put me off biking? Nah! i just made sure i have some good bike insurance!

Taking Precautions

People take holidays to relax and spend time in the company of family and friends. Some go on holiday to distant places and book their travel through a travel agent. At times there are instances when travellers have holiday complaints, as their travel arrangements have not been up to the mark, and they voice their grievance to their travel agent. People, who travel to far off places which are distant from civilization, need to take precautions, so that they do not face any problem on their trip. Those who wish to spend their time pursuing adventure sports need to ensure that they use safe and standard equipment which has been checked for safety. You would definitely not wish to get injured using sub-standard gear. So whether you are on a skiing trip, have gone mountaineering or scuba diving, keep in mind that your equipment is perfect and up to the mark. Do not try to save money by going for inferior material, and before embarking on your trip, check your insurance policy. People are generally lax about travel insurance, but it would be wise to have some kind of insurance cover, to safeguard you against accidents on your travel abroad.

Relying on the health care system

In our current society we rely on doctors and the health care system. We try and look for doctors that we can rely on for any medical problems the might arise. It is important to many people that when something happens, we have someone that is going to be reliable to make everything better and that we are healthy once again. Sometimes, things go wrong with our medical care. This is most commonly known as medical malpractice. Medical malpractice is when a doctor or other health care provider doesn’t provide care that is up to the standards that are sets for the health care system. There are several ways that people can stop this from happening to them or someone that they love. One of the easiest ways is by taking the time to research the medical care provider that you are using. Many states have a place where you can look up your care providers’ licensing information as well as see if they have ever had any malpractice suits in their career. If you just take the time to get involved with your care then you will lessen your chances of being involved in a medical malpractice suit or compensation claim.

Cheap Family Holiday

With the high prices of gas and continued worry over the economy you may be thinking that taking a family holiday is out of the question. After all, family holidays are expensive. Right? They are if you plan to fly to Hawaii and stay in a suite at the Hilton Four Seasons. Well consider going to Yellowstone National Park instead. Lodging and accommodations are widely available surrounding the park, and at a reasonable cost. There is a broad range of local restaurants and shops which cater to tourists and are also nicely priced. A good pair of binoculars and a quality camera are a must have while at Yellowstone. Be sure to observe the wildlife from a distance since they are wild animals. Also be sure that you take your time and enjoy the views as you go through the park. The geysers, hot springs, and the main lodge are all must sees. Old faithful makes for a perfect photo to commemorate your affordable family holiday along with some delicious local ice cream.

Spanish football

Barcelona will probably always be the most popular destination for Football fans keen to explore more far-flung manifestations of the beautiful game, barcelona tickets are always in hot demand. Whether or not you even bother to take in any football, Barcelona undeniably makes for one of Europe’s most appealing city breaks. Few cities can boast such an intoxicating mix of culture, climate, architecture, style and a general sense of joie de vivre. The city has much to recommend it besides the football but happily, the beautiful game is as much a part of what makes Barcelona a great city as Gaudi’s architecture. Perhaps more than any other club team (the most apt comparison is probably Brazil) Barca have become associated with the sort of stylish, buccaneering football that most neutral football fans are irresistibly drawn to. Theirs is a brand of football that feels instinctive, expansive and aesthetically agreeable; players like Maradona, Ronaldo, Romario and Figo typify the bold, flamboyantly skillful approach the club’s passionate supporters have come to demand. The current team certainly live up to such high expectations: Messi, Ronaldinho, Deco, Eto’o and Henry form arguably the most formidable attack in world football and the academy continues to turn out talents like Bojan and Giovanni Dos Santos.

Poker Gets Better With Age

March 4th, 2009 by admin

Poker has been deemed the most popular card game in history. A prestigious title indeed. The history of Poker is thought to have evolved from several other different games cumulating into one. It is the first card game to institute the famous act of “bluffing” your opponents or making them think your cards are different than they actually are. During the Wild West time period, a Poker table could be found in about every saloon in every town from coast to coast. Its popularity continued into the Civil War when the Confederates and the Union soldiers played the game. There are three games that dominate the modern Poker scene. They are 5 Card Draw, 7 Card Stud and Texas Hold’em. There are other games as well but these three are the most popular and most played by far. One thing is for certain, it seems as though Poker is like a very fine wine. It gets better and better with age.
